4 WAYS TO COOL OFF YOUR BEDROOM FOR THE SUMMER
With summer in full swing and heat waves too, it’s time to invest in cooler sleep. At the heart of how cool or hot you sleep is your bed. So here are four ways to make your bedroom feel cooler with plenty of hot summer nights on the way.
Close the Curtains
We love natural light just as much as your collection of indoor plants do. But in the summer, too much light can warm up your bedroom quickly and make it difficult for your air conditioning to work its magic.
On extra hot days, keep your bedroom curtains and blinds closed or only partially open. And if you have east- or west-facing windows, you may notice the biggest difference by pulling the shade down during the morning or evening hours (when the sun is shining directly into the room).
Rethink Your Layout
Speaking of windows, if your bed is near one, it can warm up your mattress. Hot air can seep in from outside and warm sunlight can act like a heated blanket. While that may sound nice on a chilly winter day, laying down on a warm bed on a summer day isn’t conducive to restful sleep.
If you have the space, move your bed away from the window and ideally, next to an air vent. While you’re moving things around, pay attention to the air vents in your room and make sure you aren’t blocking any with furniture.
Pick the Right Sheets
In the summer, sleep with sheets that are light and breezy. Linen, cotton, and bamboo are all great options, especially when the temperature starts rising.
Rayon From Bamboo Sheets
We can’t pick favorites, but many of our customers have and these sheets are it. Bamboo is eco-friendly, temperature regulating, moisture-wicking, and feels ultra-silky against your skin.
Supima® Cotton Sheets
Is there anything better than crisp and cool cotton sheets? Supima® is the purest cotton in the world. The premium, extra-long fibers and fine weave give these sheets a super light and breathable feel you’ll reach for all year round.
French Linen Sheets
Perhaps the most iconic light and breezy fabric, linen sheets are a timeless warm-weather classic. Made from the finest French-grown flax, they’re inherently temperature regulating and are the closest thing to a cool, gentle breeze indoors.
And the Right Pillow
While we love all the pillows we offer, there are a few specifically designed for cooler sleep.
Zoned Gel Dough Pillow
Memory foam can hold on to your body heat when you sleep. Thanks to a cool gel infused throughout our Zoned Gel Dough Pillow, you don’t have to worry about that. The Zoned Technology™ helps too. The grid of large and small holes offers just the right amount of support for your head and neck, and they also provide extra air circulation.
Zoned Gel Talalay Latex Pillow
Latex is a great alternative to memory foam. Latex pillows stay naturally cool throughout the night. Our Zoned Gel Talalay Pillow has an airy and breathable feel. Plus, it has an extra dose of cooling power with a gel infusion and the ventilated Zone Technology™.
CarbonCool + Omniphase Pillow
Want the coolest pillow and the coolest sleep? Meet the CarbonCool + Omniphase Pillow. It has 20-times the cooling capacity of gel memory foam. It’s our pillow pick for cooler sleep because of three cooling technologies at work: a phase change material to dissipate heat, a graphite infusion to pull heat away, and ventilated channels to increase airflow.
