Natural fibers are warm and useful

Despite the widespread development of innovative textile technologies, natural materials still remain the favorites of consumers. Wool is traditionally used for protection against the cold, and among its varieties a special place belongs to merino and alpaca wool.

Merino

Merino sheep are bred in the mountains of Spain, Australia, New Zealand and other countries, and the best wool for yarn production is taken from their loins. As a result of living in cold climate, fine merino wool fibers have developed structure which simultaneously keeps warmth in and absorbs moisture without interfering with air exchange; moreover, this structure makes wool very light and silky to the touch. Such fibers, even by absorbing moisture, allow to keep the skin dry and warm.Wwhat is more, they do not absorb dirt and odors.

Therapeutic properties

The creatine in merino wool has bactericidal properties. Merino throws are believed to have therapeutic properties, they are effective in warming colds, back and joint pains, as well as promoting relaxation, lowering blood pressure and even helping with insomnia. Alpaca also has beneficial effects on the body, promoting effective warming and relaxation of the body.

Alpaca

As for the alpaca, they live in the South American highlands, which is a much harsher environment than sheep. Thickness of their fibers is approximately the same as merino, but at the same time they are hollow, absolutely smooth and very pleasant to touch, and in addition they do not contain lanolin, which is characteristic for lambs wool. As a consequence, an alpaca wool throw retains heat up to seven times more efficiently and at the same time it is three times lighter.

Safe for children

Importantly, the absence of lanolin in wool merino and alpaca reduces the possibility of allergic reactions even in very sensitive people, so this throw is considered the safest for babies. In addition, this wool prevents overheating by maintaining a comfortable body temperature both in cold and in hot weather. Therefore, a plaid of alpaca and merino is very versatile - it will be cozy both in a cold January night, and in a summer evening.

It is easy to take care of

Natural alpaca and merino lambswool is one of the most durable and easy-care materials. However, to maintain the beautiful appearance and useful properties, they still require periodic care. You can entrust the cleaning of rugs and special services, but it is not difficult to do it yourself.

First, throws should be regularly cleaned from dust, and the resulting stain immediately try to remove the appropriate means (not bad helps and ordinary soap). Washing is best done by hand, and it should be remembered that the smooth wools of alpaca water rolls down, and it takes time for them to get wet. When rinsing merino wool, it is advisable to add vinegar to the water to improve the structure of the fibers and freshen the color. Plaids can also be washed gently in automatic mode, using warm water and special preparations for wool. But it is not recommended to spin and spin in the centrifuge, woolen plaids. For drying, it is better to place them horizontally and carefully spread out.
