Rather than opting for a flashy modern makeover, the homeowners and design team at Winsome Interior Design, led by Arianna Pannoni and Kasey Bedford, embraced subtle period details to create a home that feels timeless. They incorporated classic millwork and chose high-performance fabrics designed to age gracefully, ensuring the house would only grow more inviting with time. A practical update turned an underused kitchen closet into a cozy coffee bar, crafted to look like an original built-in feature, maintaining the home’s sense of history.

The sun-drenched dining nook, carved out from the wraparound deck, offers ample seating for a dozen guests—a true testament to the lively summer gatherings this family cherishes. The design team’s attention to detail means the home is as functional as it is beautiful, making every inch count.

Painting Floors with Coastal Charm

The standout feature that might just inspire a bold renovation in your own home is the painted wood flooring. Bedford recalls that the idea took some convincing, but once embraced, it became a defining characteristic. “Historically, painted wood floors have been a staple in coastal homes because they hold up well against sand and water and can be refreshed easily,” she notes. The soft blue shade flows throughout the 2,030-square-foot residence, bringing a cohesive and playful energy underfoot.

Complementing the floors, V-groove paneling appears in key areas such as the primary bath and powder room, reinforcing the sense of a home with roots and stories to tell. This detail, along with the choice to remove traditional bedroom closets in favor of clever storage pieces, supports the laid-back beach lifestyle. As Pannoni puts it, “When you’re here, it’s all about sandals, swimsuits, and shorts, so you just need a smart place to tuck away your suitcase.”
